I’d just like to mention one of the Charities. I was lucky to go along and visit.
Community Cycleworks … based in the Giraffe House Community Centre, Walwoth.
We were met by Stewart who runs the cycleworks hub. Very friendly and welcoming. Introductions over we were put through our paces on the next door BMX track … yes its very hard work !!

Afterwards we were fed coffee and biscuits, which were very much needed by this old man. Stewart went on the explain how the project got off the ground, the aims (teaching children basic bicycle maintenance skills, all the way up to building a bike), and helps them to choose a life away from crime and gangs.
They visit schools, where work stations are set up with progressively more involved maintenance and repair to develop skills. Workshops are help every Friday afternoon at the HUB, and it is these in particular that the WWMT help to keep running, covering costs of opening and running the building.
Also, a key part is run by Stewart’s collegue Iona. Iona is working hard at participation for girls. Whilst we were visiting she was running a 1 to 1 teaching a young lady to ride a bike. Both Stewart and Iona were thrilled by the uptake this program has had in the local community.
Finally, a note on parts, and equipment … the vast majority of which is donated. Let me know if you have any decent hybrid or mountain bike bits which are surplus to requirements … do let me know.
