The official profile showed the first categorised climbs:

BOATS IN BASTIA

(24/06/2013)

Stage one which was way back on Saturday ran from Porto Vecchio south to Bonifaco then a U turn to run north to the top of the island to Bastia.

I started relaxed:

Each day we start with a neutralised section of approximately 40 km.  This is to the first feed station.  Once everyone has arrived here and ticked themselves off the list, a second breakfast, and we are off properly.

Stage 1, Saturday a group formed of some keener riders.  This soon whittled down to 6, then 5. then in the last 10km 4, as I was dropped.

But a great day of cycling, with some very good team work.

This was rounded off with a stay in a quaint hotel with a sea view …

HAPPY DAYS !!!

TDF – STAGE 1

And they’re off …

Stage 1 completed.

A beautiful day, good company, Chris Burnell, Dr. Dave Roscoe, John, and Morten.

For the geeks:-

ps a bit late as the interweb in Bastia is not so good.

CAN I START NOW PLEASE?

(21/06/2013)

Now sitting in my room waiting for the rider briefing, then supper and early night before the big day tomorrow.

There’s no more fettling to be done with Freddie, finished reading “The Comic”, read a couple of chapters of this great book by a brilliant new author JANE DAVIS, book is called “these fragile things”.

Loaded my last ride into Garmin and Strava.

For followers of Strava, I have discovered a great way to be King of the Mountain – easy find an obscure climb no-one else has been up and create your own segment.  Check out today’s Porto Vecchio ride DC king of mountains Porto Vecchio Citadel.

Note to self though, don’t try this during Le Tour … stick to the course.

Well time to sign off with a BIG – THANK YOU !!!   to everyone who sent messages.

I hope I don’t bore the pants off you over the next three weeks.

Love to one and all!!

Roll on Saturday.

THE WAITING IS NEARLY OVER

(21/06/2013)

Just chilling out now, keeping out of the mid-day sun waiting for this …

Which will start with a gentle 200km
